HUMAN CENTERED DESIGN
When I returned to study at RMIT I focussed my honors year project on running footwear. In particular, distance runners and injury prevention. The outcome was a pair of sneakers runners could use to improve technique and lower the rate of injury.
Through the year-long project, I dove into the running techniques of distance athletes and common injuries as well as the biomechanics of running through insights gained from industry experts and leaders.
Through applying design methods and tools I produced a possible design solution changed the way you run skewing the runner into a forefoot technique. This allowed the knees and ankle to act more like shock absorbers for the body.
This was a passion project of mine and I hope to one day revisit this idea while working with an industry leading brand as I feel the idea merits further work.
